Keys to the house are a guarantee that you will sleep in your own bed at night. But keys can, for example, be dropped into the grate of a rain gutter. They could be taken out of your pocket. After all, you might accidentally forget them on the nightstand and slam the door. The bottom line is the same: you have a place to live, but in fact you're like a homeless person. We have to urgently solve the question of how to pick the lock. Preferably - without damaging the door in general and the lock in particular.
How to open the lock with a picklock.
If you suffer from forgetfulness, you had better buy picks, because opening the lock in this way is the most gentle way. Your own set of hook and tensioner will come in handy, so you can prudently work on your "safecracker" skills.
The scheme of opening itself looks pretty simple.
We place the tensioner at the bottom of the keyhole and twist it in the direction of the lock opening.
Holding this part of the pick, we insert the hook into the upper part of the hole. Fumbling the pin and press it until the harmful pin crawls to the side.
Repeat the steps from the previous point for the remaining pins. Hold the tensioner firmly and diligently, otherwise the shifted pins will snap again.
When all the pins are installed in the "correct" position, turn the tensioner cylinder to the end - and the lock opens.
It takes practice
It would seem that everything is elementary. But believe me, it is impossible to cope with the task "off the cuff" - you need practice. In addition, there are very different types of picks for the locks. Some tools work with cylindrical locks, the others work with tubular locks, the others work with plunger locks and so on.
What a master key for a lock, can only sort out a locksmith from a company that is professionally engaged in emergency door breaking, and where there is a vertical machine for making keys. However, if you are studying the subject only for home use, it is enough for you to learn how to pick only the lock that is on your door and this greatly simplifies the task.
How to pick ignition locks in a car
Another question that often arises is how to pick the ignition lock in the car, if the key refuses to turn there. Our opinion: it makes sense only in the simplest of circumstances. For example, in winter, at low temperatures and absence of heated garage. Most likely, condensate has accumulated in the well, which has had time to freeze during the downtime. To cope with the problem, warm the key with a lighter, insert it into the lock and very carefully try to turn it. It may take several approaches.
If winter is long over, it's time for vacations and air conditioning, and the key in the ignition sticking out like concrete, hope that the hole is just clogged. In a good way, the lock needs to be disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. But as a one-time "rescue action" (to get to a service station at least) you can resort to good old WD-40. Sprinkle it in the hole and pray that it works.
If it did not work, do not look up the results of flight of fancy in "Google" and call the experts. Experimenting with the ignition switch of your car can be frustratingly expensive.
